Welcome

-Review of the Supportive Accountability Governance Model from CCSD
-Review of the Supportive Accountability Governance Model from LES

Rotary Club & PTA
PTA: Penny wars wrapping up (Cape den won), PTA meeting next Tuesday with 1st grade performing, Bingo night is also coming up soon! Nomination forms coming soon (for next year’s PTA board – all positions opening). Laptops are being purchased from the fall fundraiser! Discussion of teacher grants.

Rotary Club: Peter joined us and discussed the partnership between Liberty Elementary and the Rotary Club of Canton. Rotary Club was able to make a financial donation to our school’s cl ub. February is “Peace Building and Conflict Resolution Month.” There will be an outreach on this at our school on February 25th.

Celebrations
-Rotary Club named as our LES 2025-2026 Partner of the Year!
-Ashley and PTA named as our LES 2025-2026 Volunteer of the Year!
-Ms. Ergle shared some of the amazing things that students and teachers have been doing lately at LES
-Mr. Flesher shared information about our most recent den celebration (Nubian den won for Q2)
-Mr. Flesher shared details from our winter growth and achievement celebration. Our council was able to see pictures and videos of students enjoying their chosen extra specials activity
-Dr. Harrison asked the council if they had any suggestions about our growth and achievement celebration – parents enjoyed seeing their student certificates and hearing about their growth

Questions/Comments
-A council member asked about the Lightbulb Lab and Rise Club
-Lightbulb lab is an opportunity for students who need extension/enrichment
-Rise Club is a new take on EXP. EXP is a tutoring program for students who need additional support. It used to be after school, but now we have hired two additional teachers to push into classrooms to work with students in reading and math.
 

Policy IFAD Discussion

-Council members will read Policy IFAD and annotate with any key takeaways, questions, or comments
 

Upcoming Events to Elevate the Excellence at LES
-Ms. Myers shared information about Insight and Action as well as upcoming peer walk-throughs.
-Dr. Harrison thanked the council for their messages to teachers about their impact on student achievement at LES
-Coffee, Community, and Conversations
-We want to create stronger partnerships from school to home. What are some ways you as parents help your students at home?

Safety at LES
-Daily safety huddles (what does the day look like? Field trips? Visitors in the building? Etc)
-After each drill, we have round table discussions that include admin, SRO, school nurse, counselors, etc. to ensure preparedness.
-Shut and secure where our SRO checks all building doors to ensure that doors are locked and secure

Looking Ahead
-Climate surveys will be sent out in this week’s Liberty Ledger
-Students in 3-5 will be taking the survey after mid-winter break
-STEAM Night/3rd Grade Performance 3/26
-Spring Choir Performance 3/31
-Spring Book Fair 3/18-3/27
-Exceptional Children’s Week 3/23-3/27

Closing/Final Thoughts
-Dr. Harrison asked the council members to make “love notes” for staff members
