Officer Michaela Colglazier
Officer Colglazier has served in law enforcement for five years. She joined the CCSD Police Department this year and is assigned to Liberty Elementary School and Freedom Middle School. Officer Colglazier previously served with the Athens-Clarke County Police Department. She began on midnights west patrol; after two and a half years, she transferred to the downtown special operations unit. Officer Colglazier was selected to serve part time with Georgia State Patrol Aviation as their Tactical Flight Officer and FLIR operator and ended her time with ACCPD in the Gang Unit.
Why did you decide to become a police officer?
I've never been one to stand around and watch when someone is in need. I felt this was the best way I could help others and make a difference.
What do you enjoy most about serving in CCSD?
I enjoy goofing around with kiddos.
What is a piece of safety advice for parents to reinforce to their children at home?
I would advise to not give children a cell phone until they reach 16 years old and are driving. Always collect the phone at the end of each day.
