Celebrating School Board Member Erin Ragsdale!
It’s School Board Appreciation Week, and we’re so grateful for our amazing Cherokee County School Board! A high-performing school district begins with a high-performing school board … and our board is incredibly dedicated to elevating the excellence in its governance. Each day this week, we will share one School Board member’s thoughts on three questions.
School Board Member Erin Ragsdale, District 5
What do you love most about serving on our School Board?
I really enjoy the “team” aspect of being a CCSD school board member. Educating children requires a great deal of collaboration. Listening to the diverse viewpoints of each board member, while also hearing the voices of our educators and community, provides a wealth of information to consider. This “team” approach has helped guide me in making the best possible policy decisions for our students, staff, and community. It has been incredibly rewarding working with so many knowledgeable people to help our students achieve their educational goals and dreams.
What about our school district makes you the proudest?
I am the most proud of our people in CCSD. From our bus drivers, custodians, support staff, teachers, administrators, central office staff, and students, no other district compares. The dedication, talent, and love for students is apparent in each CCSD staff member I meet. It has been an honor to serve alongside such amazing people.
What about our school district’s future is most exciting to you?
I am so excited about our new teacher resources and core curriculum. The teachers in CCSD are talented and creative. My hope is that having this new standards-driven curriculum will not only enhance the talents of our teachers, but also create more ease in teaching. These new resources, combined with the amazing abilities of our teachers, will significantly improve academic achievement for all CCSD students.
